This morning we walked down into Penzance to see the organisers of the Golowan festival. Some of the information about festival organisation was really interesting, especially the costs and time spent organising. The people are planning next year's festival the week after that year's is over, and some acts from further away are booked for the year after that. The costs for everything push £100,000. It brings around 40,000 people to Penzance over the course of the festival and a special train is booked from Gloucestershire.
The Exchange in Penzance was also interesting, the exhibition had loads of photographs with excerpts of text mounted on lightboxes, by Jyll Bradley. We talked to Kirsty Lowry, one of the education people about the current community projects, and the types of project they do. At the moment they're doing a drop-in style workshop that's always open, where people can come and draw pictures. As well as this they do a small amount of outreach work into local schools, which is a common theme with all of their projects. These outreach projects have been going on since I was in primary school at Newlyn School. We worked closely with the art gallery in all of our art projects.
